Getting Started
Introduction
What ZevCampaign is, what it is not, and the shape of its API.
ZevCampaign is an email marketing platform. You use it to collect subscribers, keep their consent straight, and send newsletters and broadcasts to them.
It is built around the thing that actually makes marketing email work: knowing that every address on your list asked to be there, and being able to prove it. Most of the design decisions here follow from that.
What it is not
ZevCampaign does not send transactional mail. Password resets, receipts, one-time codes and order confirmations go to ZevSend, our sibling product. The two are separate on purpose.
Marketing mail and transactional mail have opposite requirements. One needs consent, an unsubscribe link and a postal address; the other must arrive even when the recipient would rather it did not. Mixing them on one sending reputation means a bad campaign can stop a customer receiving their password reset. Keeping them apart means it cannot.
If you are not sure which you need: if a person could reasonably reply “stop sending me this”, it is marketing, and it belongs here.
The shape of the API
Three surfaces, and you will mostly want the first.
REST, at /v1. Your server calls this with a secret key. Contacts,
topics, lists, suppressions. This is what the rest of these docs are
about.
/v1/subscribe. The one route a browser may call directly, with a
publishable key, so a signup form on your own site can post to us
without a backend. It is deliberately the only one.
Webhooks. We call you when something happens: somebody subscribed, somebody unsubscribed, a campaign finished, a message bounced. Your CRM usually cares more about these than about anything you can poll for.
Where to start
If you have five minutes, the quickstart takes a subscriber from a form on your site to a confirmed address on a list.
If you would rather understand the model first, core concepts explains contacts, topics, lists and brands, and why topics exist at all.
If you are pointing an AI agent at this, start it at
/guide/agents, or hand it /llms.txt directly.
